Most luxury deal aggregators delete expired listings the moment they go out of stock, treating the deal as disposable inventory. Archive Luxury keeps every one. The reason is structural: a verified historical price point is one of the strongest tools a careful luxury shopper has against the inflated “Was” comparison prices that dominate the category. When a retailer claims an item is now $1,400, “down from $2,650,” the question that matters isn't the current sale price — it's whether the bag was ever genuinely sold at the higher number. The archive answers that question with data, not marketing.

Each entry in the archive carries its complete price history, the date it was last verified, the retailer it was sourced from, and the editorial classification we assigned at the time. Deals that passed through our three-gate verification pipeline appear here in full; deals that failed the pipeline never reached the site at all and aren't represented. The archive is therefore not a record of every luxury markdown that ever existed — it's a record of every markdown we judged credible enough to publish, backed by the source-field discipline that distinguishes our pipeline from competitors who fabricate comparison prices.

For shoppers, the practical use is straightforward: before buying any luxury item claiming to be on sale, check whether comparable items from the same brand or retailer have appeared in the archive. If a Loewe Puzzle in fondant has historically sold at $2,200 on verified markdown windows, a current listing claiming $1,800 “down from $3,200” should be evaluated against that historical floor, not the inflated comparison number.
